It's been a good week. After it was a terrible week...news that another Orthopedic Surgeon is getting deployed from USNH Okinawa accompanied the receipt of the adoption agreements and power of attorney for Madelyn's younger brother. We got the documents notarized, made the trek to TECO (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office) in Naha to get everything stamped and certified, and had the documents scanned and at FEDEX 4 days after we received them - record time!
I celebrated by taking the recently-built Funjet (the plane on the left) to the local flying field at Torii, promptly launching it into the ground and destroying the pusher prop. The ground won that round...flight number 2 was about as bad, resulting in some minor cosmetic damage, likely due to a poor toss on my part. In frustration, I decided to try once more, having my friend Keith launch the plane as I manned the controls - success! Whereas the Easystar
(plane on the right) has no ailerons and can hit 40mph if it's pointed right at the ground, the Funjet can hit 70-80 mph in level flight, can climb out of sight vertically, and scoots around the sky like it's on rails. I can't wait to show the kids - I'm sure they'll be very impressed. In the meantime, I'm going to keep using their play area as hangar space.

I'm sure the children will absolutely love JUST watching Daddy play with HIS toys... i mean fly his airplanes.
ReplyDeleteI could not help noticing those beautiful fingerprint FREE windows. Appreciate them now while you can.
Keep the blogs coming. I check them daily.
One very extremely excited auntie!!!
Rachel says keep the planes away from the kids. I love their play corner :) God, I miss that view. That is wonderful news about the papers. Do you know where you will PCS next summer, any chance of Northern VA?
ReplyDeleteditto on the VA thing, although I heard from Bill Carter that WA sounds more like it? Too bad since we were looking forward to having our kids play together!
ReplyDeletePlease let us know what you need or if you are registered since you are going to have a baby in addition to the toddler! I think the babies require a little more gear.
