We aren't sure exactly where and on what Madelyn will be sleeping once we get her. I guess it will depend a lot on her age and size, and probably more on what she's used to doing with her foster family, and (pragmatically) maybe more upon what causes the least sleeping disruption to Joel and I. Our friends with the 3 year old said that the children generally sleep with the entire family in one room, on the floor, and that the adopted toddlers had a lot of sleeping issues at first.
Last weekend, we went to a Japanese store equivalent to Ikea and got a little cabinet with handles on it that can be toddler proofed with the right gadget. Prior to this, we had all of our electronic phone stuff (home phone, Vonage phones, router, printer, cell phone chargers) in this jumbled mass of wires and outlet plugs on a low end table in perfect reach of short-statured curious types. Baby proofing can be hard, next on the list is Joel's speakers, top heavy and sitting just above the level of a toddler's head. Not a good thing.
If you do a Google search, there are a lot of these family adoption blog sites. I think I understand why. There's a lot of frustration and excitement, and waiting and waiting, and then more waiting, with a lot of unknowns to adopting. I think blogging is a way to share this journey with our family and close friends, and at the same time it makes it more "real" to us, not to mention the side benefit of being able to vent a little.
LOVE the blog! Keep the posts coming.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Not as high tech looking as your and Drexell's but at least we can post pictures as we get them. We love your email videos of the boys, too cute! I definitely want to get that flip camera thing.
