"There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts" - Charles Dickens

One of the most beautiful things about a blog is the opportunity for perpetual re-invention. In this fast-paced, ADHD, biggerBETTERNOW world, the odds of an old post being remembered are slim. This is both sad and liberating...surely not in the same league as the wonderful paradoxes in the opening monologue of Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, mind you, but a curiosity to be savored nonetheless.
But I digress. Which is half the point and a third the title. Theresa and I have not been blessed with a child of our own, but we are about to be blessed with someone else's! It's amazing what determination, a fearless disregard for mountains of paperwork, and the willingness to lob lots of cash at a problem can do. Miraculously, we have been approved to adopt a (currently 16 months to the day) baby girl from Taiwan! She will be known as Madelyn (we thought that rolled off the tongue better than Siang-Yi, even though the majority of the world's population would doubtless disagree), and she has already become the apple of our eye.
