Isaac on our back porch, looking pretty darn cute.He is wearing his cousins hand-me-downs which fit quite well.
Madelyn in her new peddle pushers that Auntie Patricia sent her. They have the adjustable waistband so they fit her slender build great.
Madelyn letting the waves splash over her feet. Daddy wasn't expecting this and got his socks and sandles wet. And yes, he was actually wearing socks and sandles out in public. We've lost all modicum of self pride. We went to Point No Point which is a scenic beach area with a lot of driftwood. You can see Canada from this beach as well as Mount Ranier. The kids really like the sand. I believe Madelyn has been to the ocean before because she was not timid about wading in the water and letting it come over her feet. We also learned another thing: give them small sticks to play with, not the big ones.... Another thing we've just learned, somebody in her prior life has taught her to point her index fingers when posing for pictures. She just started doing this very recently. Not sure if it's a Chinese gesture or what.
The kids are doing well. Everyday we (the parents) learn more about parenting and our children, make mistakes, correct some. It's a dynamic and fun and awesome process but with frustrations galore. Today was the first day that she actively called out to me as "Mama". And this morning she reached out to be picked up by me for the first time, just to be held, no other reason. Hope springs eternal.

Absolutely wonderful news about Madelyn calling out to her mama AND reaching out for mama to pick her up. So very happy for mama.
ReplyDeleteExactly what is wrong with wearing socks with sandles? It's what "our people" do...
ReplyDeleteTrue that. It's an Asian thing, I just try not to do it myself.
ReplyDeletewell... i do it...
ReplyDeleteok, the picture of Madelyn with the wind blowing her hair... well, it's now Auntie's wallpaper on her computer at work. AND, it's replaced the McFarland family picture in the frame on Auntie's desk at work. Isaac's bath picture has already been framed and properly displayed on Auntie's desk at work.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, that's sweet. You probably have more hard copy photo's of our kids than we do.
